{Happy Mother's Day!}
I had two mother/children sessions today - must be the day before Mother's Day!! There is something special about a mother with their child. A comfort, an ease,a connection, call it what you want... you just gotta be one.

Lisha and her children and step-children earlier at the Arboretum. I arrived a little early and I was people watching at the front gates and I think there were more cameras there than people!

{The house you grew up in}
Do you have fond memories of the house you grew up in? I do. I drove to Irving tonight to document this family in front of the house that they will soon be moving out of. The children were beautiful, running around barefoot with the St. Augustine grass beneath their tiny toes.
The baby had the most mesmerizing blue eyes. It was hard for me to not look at her. She was such a beauty to look at.
And a fun image from the end of the shoot of the family having fun. Their house with all the memories in the background. While I was there I understood the significance of everything. The work they had done to the house. The meaning of every tree they had planted and a special plant that their father had given them. The care that had been taken of the place that protected and nurtured their family. It was all part of their history in that house.
To the Reitmeyer family - thank you so much for your kindness and allowing me to capture your beautiful kids. I had a 45 minute drive back home remembering the house I grew up in.

{Bribes}
Every once in a while a session finally has to resort to it. Mommy will buy you a toy, or Marie will give you a lollipop. Poor Kennedy just wanted to be photographed in her "Little Miss Chatterbox" tee . See image below.
Her mom had an abundance of ridiculously fantastic clothes to wear which would have matched my little downtown urban motif so well. But the blue t-shirt was winning. We were finally able to get her in the tutu and outside for a few. It was worth it!!
Her baby sister was just a bundle of smiles and a little crawling machine. All of my recent six month olds have just skipped sitting up and started crawling. It's pretty amazing. I want to know what mom's are feeding their kids these days. We played with reflections a little today, and check out the result!!

{Kirbie - Maypearl}
For those of you who know me, you know I get pretty physical during the shoot. Lots of walking, squatting, hiking, and maneuvering. In fact today, I was shooting from underneath a trailer. When Kirbie's dad said "snakes and poison ivy" ...... I thought, maybe not.
Kirbie spent a little time with me down at the square, but we spent the better half on her parents amazing property in Maypearl. I enjoy driving out to places like this. The narrow winding roads, the arched trees, the old rickety bridges, fields with wildflowers... and the cows and unfortunately the snakes and the poison ivy :(

{Drew- a silly boy}
I photographed Drew last night, and when I was going through his session today all I could do is smile. I think Drew just may be a photographer one day. He gave me a gazillion different looks, showed me every facet of his personality - and most importantly, let me know he did not like walking in tall grass. And for those of you who have shot with me lately - you know tall grass is in the agenda.
This is the shot that Drew set up. From the sunglasses in his pocket, to the cap on the bat - 100% Drew.

On a separate note. I just checked out my blog stats. 12,000 readers in the month of April. OH MY GOSH!!! Thanks so much. I remember the day I started my blog. For months, I knew that I was the only one reading it. But I had faith people would come. Since then, so many of my clients have started their own blogs. I have heard many say it is therapeutic. I have to say - it doesn't hurt!
